About The Role

We’re looking for the very best talent to join us at this exciting time in our journey, as we continue to strengthen our market leader position by providing an even better customer experience. We have an exciting new role for a Operations Manager working Nationally.

We are seeking a highly organised and hands-on Operations Manager to lead our critical power operations. This pivotal role is responsible for the end-to-end management of our equipment, depot, and field service teams. You will ensure the flawless preparation, deployment, and maintenance of critical power assets—including loadbanks, transformers, generators, battery energy storage units (BESS), UPS units, and cable distribution—to meet the high-stakes demands of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment & Workshop Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and testing of all critical power equipment, including loadbanks, transformers, generators, BESS, UPS units, cable, and distribution systems.
  • Manage the workshop and depot area allocated to Critical Power, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
  • Prepare and configure equipment for hire and sales projects, ensuring it is fully functional and meets project specifications.
  • Coordinate the logistics of equipment, including arranging delivery and collection to and from project sites.
  • Check and confirm depot and field daily, weekly, monthly timesheets are accurate and forwarded to finance

2. Team Leadership & Management:

  • Directly manage and mentor a small team, including two Depot Engineers and two Yard Hands.
  • Lead, schedule, and dispatch the Field Service Team for on-site projects.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support team development.

3. Project & Field Service Execution:

  • Plan and resource all field service activities, including the installation, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of critical power systems on client sites.
  • Ensure all field work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical issues encountered by the field service team.
  • Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to ensure a seamless handover from quotation to project delivery.

4. Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Champion a zero-harm culture and ensure all activities comply with company and statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Conduct regular tool-box talks and safety briefings.
  • Ensure all equipment certifications and test records are accurately maintained and up to date.

To succeed as an Operations Manager you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:

  • Proven experience in an operational management or senior technical role within the critical power, generator, or related electrical industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with maintaining and repairing loadbanks, transformers, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing, leading, and motivating a technical team.
  • Excellent organisational and logistical planning skills.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a workshop and site environment.
  • A full, valid driver's licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

  • Formal engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, or NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline).
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Previous experience in a hire or rental environment.
  • Commercially aware with experience in resource planning and cost control.
