We are looking for a skilled and proactive Depot Engineer to maintain, repair, and prepare our critical power equipment to the highest standard. This is a hands-on workshop-based role where you will be the technical expert ensuring our loadbanks, transformers, generators, battery energy storage units (BESS), UPS units, and distribution equipment are always project-ready. Your work is the foundation for the success and reliability of our field operations.
 
Your Key Responsibilities will include:

. Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform planned maintenance (PPM), diagnostics, repairs, and modifications on a range of critical power equipment, including:
    • Loadbanks (AC/DC, Resistive/Reactive)
    • Generators
    • Battery Energy Storage Units (BESS)
    • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
    • Transformers
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Cables and Connectors
  • Conduct functional testing on all equipment post-repair and pre-dispatch to ensure 100% operational readiness.
  • Accurately complete job cards, service reports, and test certificates for all work undertaken.

2. Workshop & Yard Operations:

  • Work closely with the Yard Hands to prepare and kit equipment for specific projects, ensuring all components are present and correct.
  • Fault-find and troubleshoot equipment returns, identifying issues and implementing effective repairs.
  • Maintain the workshop and yard areas allocated to Critical Power, ensuring they are clean, safe, and organised.
  • Manage workshop tools and test equipment, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working order.

3. Technical & Logistics Support:

  • Provide remote technical support and guidance to the Field Service Team when on-site.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with sourcing parts and managing workshop stock levels.
  • Occasionally assist with the loading and unloading of equipment, verifying its condition upon return from hire.

4. Health & Safety:

  • Adhere to all company and statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations at all times.
  • Participate in risk assessments and follow safe systems of work, including the use of appropriate PPE.
  • Report any near misses, defects, or hazards immediately to the Operations Manager

To succeed in this role you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:  

  • Proven experience as a service, maintenance, or workshop engineer within the power generation, critical power, or a related electrical field.
  • Strong electrical background with the ability to read schematics and conduct fault-finding on complex three-phase systems.
  • Hands-on experience with maintaining and repairing at least some of the following: loadbanks, transformers, UPS systems, or power distribution.
  • Competent in using electrical test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers).
  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • A full, valid driver's licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

  • Formal qualification in an electrical discipline (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3).
  • Testing and Inspection qualification (e.g., 18th Edition, 2391).
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols in a workshop environment.
  • FLT (Forklift Truck) licence.
